Most employers agree that work experience is one of the most important determining factors when hiring an employee. Proof that you can do the job you’re applying for is crucial, but not always the decision-maker.  So what’s the other most important factor? That would be your attitude! You can have the perfect skill set and qualifications for the job, but that won’t get you very far if you’re rude to everyone during the application process. A less qualified candidate could have a superior attitude and be chosen over you.

One of the things we notice here is that often times an applicant will be polite and friendly to the recruiter interviewing them, but when they came in the receptionist was treated rudely. The receptionist may not have the final say when it comes to hiring, but they do have some influence! Employers pay attention to how you treat EVERYONE, from the janitor to the CEO. And when checking references we ask not just about your work duties, but how your attitude was on the job every day. Simply remember to treat everyone you meet along your job hunt with respect- the right attitude can set you apart!
